Wow - that's really odd; I hope Robert is okay. I know that he was having some problems at work, basically "we love you but we're cutting your hours." But I certainly didn't see this coming.
I just tried to send him an email and now it is no longer possible. He emailed me recently as I am reading his book. I know he had talked before about posting too much and wanting to cool it down some. But a sabbatical is one thing. Out and out deletion quite another. I do hope all is well.
Ok - so I just looked at the link above and it is in response to some negativity (directed at someone else). Can't blame him as I have more than once contemplated the same. Though never thought the inanities of Facebook a possible replacement. There you go.
I have heard from a reliable source that Robert consciously decided to move on and he didn't want any long goodbyes. He did not quit Live Journal in anger, nor has there been a catastrophic event in his personal life. He has just decided to do other things with his time. He will be greatly missed on here.
