A few minutes ago, I plugged in iTunes and listened to these (and also the Ten Pieces for Wind Quintet). Thank you for calling them to my attention. They are brilliant pieces. The writing for the winds is amazing. For me, Ligeti has emerged from the pack of his generation (Berio, Boulez, etc.) as the best of them all. I'll put them on my phone and also listen tomorrow several times.
Sometimes I feel odd posting about music or a poem, etc. But, many times, these things have carried me through a rough day and seeped into my bones.
I will look forward to your Stanford posts. The CCRMA is one of my fantasy graduate programs.
